spring trim

One of my favorite shops on etsy is Caramelos.  She carries the sweetest ribbons, trims, tags, and decorations.  Last week I ordered little blue tags, birds, "forget-me-not" flowers, blue twine, and these tiny mushrooms.

Absolutely precious, right?  Most of these trims are also available in pink.

Feeling inspired, I created this little
bird nest for spring.
happy spring!

spring goodies

My mom is having a little get together this weekend
and she asked me to help with the decorations.

She is the one who taught
me all about
entertaining and cooking
and "presentation"!!

I made this little spring plaque
for her front door...

I decided to make some more for my Etsy store;
they'll be available this week.

I made these spring tags for her to use
as napkin ties...

These will also be available for sale
with either pale fawn
or pale green ribbon
for tying.

Just simple and sweet for spring!

finding silver linings

Last week I found out
that I have
Fortunately it is not too severe,
and hopefully only
temporary.
It was a very scary time, though,
but in reflection
it seems that I can
find lots of
silver linings
within this
predicament.

I am blessed with the love of family.
My husband sat with me in the hospital
awaiting diagnosis
and was so sweet in the way that he
tried to joke when
I knew inside he was scared.
He got me all fixed on the couch the next day,
fixed me soup and made sure
I took my medicine.
My son was so sweet in his concern
and keeps coming by or calling every day
to know that things are okay.
My parents and family and friends have
shown concern for my well being
and a love that knows no bounds.

So thankful for the awesome hospital we have
and the wonderful health care. I know that many
do not have that and I am thankful for our
blessing and concerned for those
less fortunate. I will continue to pray
for resolve to the whole
health care crisis.

So thankful that
my God
provides for me,
takes care of me,
and will carry me
through the mire
for all my days.

spring is in the air

Today
has been such a beautiful day...
lots of sunshine and
blue skies.
I am really looking forward to
gardening
this spring.
Our backyard is a work in progress...
we get a little done each spring/summer,
but it seems like there is never enough time
to get it all together!
This year I am determined to get out early
and get started so that
maybe this will be the year
it actually gets finished!

Do you keep a garden journal?

I don't have an official journal,
but I have tons of magazine pages
that I've cut out and
I keep them in a
neat little box labeled
"garden".
It keeps me inspired to keep
creating beauty in my own backyard
every season.

Thinking about gardening this week,
I was inspired to put together this
little garden kit
full of vintage designs...
perfect to put in a garden journal,
diary,
or scrapbook.

butterflies and springtime

Even though I know it is still officially winter...the spring blossoms on the trees in my back yard are starting to peek out and the freesias have lots of buds on them...so I am beginning to feel just the start of spring fever!

I've been gathering lots of butterfly themed things for the spring...it seems like they are popping up everywhere this year!

this butterfly gift tag set is
available at

I love that spring is full of new things every year...
it's a chance to start fresh.
I love that I get focused
on the simple things in life...
like gardening and walks
and being in the sunshine.

I have been so blessed lately to see
my son blossoming and growing
and really enjoying school again.
Praise God!

My husband is getting itchy to get out into the yard
and to work on the garden
and, yes, all his car projects!
He's working on fixin up an old '48 chevy truck.

what do you
love and enjoy
about
spring?

new tags

I have been wanting to make some simple, smaller coffee dyed tags.  I love the way these look and smell laying out on the kitchen counter when they dry.  I also love the way they look all stacked up.  Just simple and beautiful.

These are all available at Bleu Bird Nest.
